A short post this one – simply signposting you on to some festive reading: the National Trust for Scotland’s cheery page of Scottish Traditions around Christmas and New Year, and to the slightly less official web page of TimeTravel-Britain, discussing mid-winter fire festivals. Mostly about eating, there are songs in there too, and some suggestions for festive visits. Also some activities you should probably not try at home or in any confined space (the Vikings probably didn’t worry too much about health and safety). Enjoy, keep warm and safe, and best wishes to you all for 2025.
